چکیده

A model system is described for examining the impact of bearing methylcholanthrene-induced tumors upon the van ous lymphoid cell subpopulations of mouse spleen and thy mus. The data define qualitative aspects of the 10-fold increase in numbers of spleen cells, and the equivalent re duction in thymus cells, during the 40to SO-day course of tumor bearing in CS7BL/6 or CBA mouse strains. The pro portion of spleen cells susceptible to anti-O or anti-H-2 plus complement is reduced, but the absolute numbers increased progressively. The proportion of anti-H-2-susceptiblc thy mus cells increased markedly. These changes are inter preted as reflecting a net increase in T-cells in the spleen during tumor bearing. The proportional reduction in T-cells in the spleen, therefore, appears to represent a dilution ef fect, whereas, in fact, a net increase in total spleen T-cells occurs.

The Effects of WW2/WW3 Domains of Smurf2 Molecule on CD4+CD25+/CD4+ Proportion in Spleen of 4T1 Tumor Bearing BALB/c Mice

Background: TGF-β has long been considered as the main inducer of Tregs in tumor microenvironment and is the reason for the aberrant number of Tregs in tumor-bearing individuals. Recently, it has been suggested that the enzyme arginase I is able to mediate the induction of Tregs in a TGF-β-independent fashion. The recombinant WW2/WW3 domains from smad ubiquitination regulatory factor 2 molecule...

The effects of specific expression of apoptin under the control of PSES and PSA promoter on cell death and apoptosis of LNCaP cells

Objective(s): Apoptotic effect of apoptin has been demonstrated in numerous studies. However, its tumor specificity has been questioned by some reports. The aim of this study was to confine the expression of apoptin in the prostate tumor cells by inducing its gene expression under the control of a chimeric enhancer composing of prostate-specific membrane antigen (PSMA) and prostate-specific ant...

E-Cadherin in Relation with the Proliferating Cell Nuclear Antigen of the Bilharzia Associ-ated and Non-Associated Urinary Bladder Carcinoma

Background: E-cadherin is a trans-membrane glycoprotein that plays a critical role in many aspects of cell adhesion as well as establishment and maintenance of epithelial cell polarity. Loss of the adhesive function of E-cadherin seems to promote invasive and metastatic properties of neoplastic cells. Objectives: The present study is a retrospective study aiming to evaluate the loss of E-cadher...

The stimulatory effect of tumor bearing upon the T- and B-cell subpopulations of the mouse spleen.

The numbers and certain functions of Tand B-cell subpopulations of the spleen have been assessed in C57BL/6 and CBA mice over the course of bearing transplanted, syngeneic methylcholanthrene fibrosarcomas. The level of proliferative activity in this population increases progres sively over the 5to 8-week course of tumor bearing. The size of the 0-antigen-bearing subpopulation and the T-cell fun...

O 24: Functional Role of The K2p Potassium Channel Task-3 in A Syngeneic Murine Glioma Model

To investigate the effects of the two-pore-domain potassium (K2P) channel TASK-3 in a syngeneic murine model for malignant glioma. Malignant or high-grade glioma (WHO grade III and IV) are the most common and most aggressive primary brain tumors in adults. Despite aggressive multimodal therapy, the outcome of patients with malignant glioma remains poor. However, recent phase I and II trials hav...
